Among the many prehistoric sites discovered in Lussac, the cave paintings of the Marche site are of international significance.
In 1065 a fortified castle was built, and a bridge linked it to a building on the north side of the river: the square hollow pillars of the bridge can still be seen.
Also worth visiting: The Museum of Prehistory with its exhibition of Palaeolithic Age artefacts and other archaeological artworks discovered in caves, depicting animals and humans engraved on limestone plaques.
Not far away: the Merovingian cemetery in Civaux and its Cultural Centre also displaying archaeological collections, and the Abyssea Aquatic Centre. Also a new addition in 2008 was Crocodile Planet.
Accommodation: hotels, campsite.
