Tourism Office of Couhé

Couhé's prosperity results from its position on the route between Paris and Bordeaux. It has become quieter since the diversion of the RN 10 highway.

Its history is closely linked to that of the lords of Lusignan.

Explore the castle ruins ( 1020 A.D.), the covered market ( 16th C ) and Valence Abbey founded in 1230 by Hughes the 10th lord of Lusignan.

Nearby :  Monkey Valley -  open from May to November, more than 30 species of primates (350 animals)  free to roam in a natural environment.

Also, the Iles de Payré, with its miniature port open between June and September, and the Vieux Cormenier Museum retracing rural life in the South of La Vienne,  with its scarecrow exhibition.

Accommodation : hotels, campsites, self catering accomodation, bed and breakfasts.

The tourist information office organises guided tours of the town, and the Valance abbey in the summer. Adults 3 €, children (6-14 ) 2,50 € - Groupes (20 people) adults 2,50 €, children 2 €.
