STONE AGE MUSEUM - Lussac-les-Châteaux

Under renovation, closed to the public in 2008. Reopening in June 2009 It is said that Madame de Montespan, a favourite of Louis the 14th, was born in this medieval house that once belonged to the Rochechouart-Mortemart Family. Exhibits in the museum date back to prehistoric times displaying: bones, animals, lithic and bone tools, jewellery, and limestone tablets engraved with drawings of animals and humans. There are also various temporary exhibits to see. Also to visit: the Ancient Tool Museum. In close proximity : the Civaux Cultural Centre and Montmorillon's City of the Written Word and Book Crafts.

July-August : Tuesday-Sunday 10am-12am and 2pm-6pm. All year on booking for groups. Closed : 1st January, 1st May, 8th May, 1st November, 11th November, 25th December.

Guided visit (1h-2h). Adult : 5€. Child and groups : 2,50€.
