A 4 hectare park which featrures a variety of tree and plant species. An ornate gate designed by Ernest Mongruel, owner of the Charterhouse (Chartreuse) at the beginning of the century, opens this residence which dates back to the 18th century. It takes its name from the characteristical architecture of the large properties in the South West of France and in particular of the regions of Perigord and Aquitaine. From 1882 until 1892, it was used as a weaving factory by Mr Ronsse, employing up to 200 workers. The park is organised around a tree covered walk, planted at the beginning of the last century between groves and lawns and the variegated trees add a pictorial English character. There are numerous species and the lawns present vibrant coloured flowers. Among the rarities are Lebanese; Atlas, Atlantic and Himalayan cedar trees, catalpas and polovnias (trees with violet leaves). In the park you will also find a pillar made of stone which comes from Bonnivet castle, in memory of the only daughter of Mr Mongruel who died at the age of 20 from tuberculosis. Also to be observed are several sculptured stones originating from a central shaft of a monumental staircase.
