The Beausoleil Campsite is located in a particularly shady park area , just outside the city on the banks of a fishing lake . Classified as "Ville Fleurie" because of its flowers , Loudun is Renaudot's home town and an excellent departure point for numerous tours in the Loudun countryside.
Recommended sightseeing: Loudun's historical centre; the Haut Poitou Vinyard Route; troglodite caves where people lived and still live, the wash house trail on the banks of the Dive River... the history of the Acadians, who left the region to settle in the Maritimes in Canada...the Royal Abbey of Fontevraud where the English kings Richard the Lion Heart and King John are buried.
