Camping La Fontaine - Chauvigny

Dominated by the ramparts of the medieval city bordering the public park, the Fontaine Campsite is an ideal starting point for exploring the area. There are numerous cultural events in July and August. The baronial castle hosts an outstanding free flying bird show, "Géants du Ciel", with birds from all over the world (every day from mid - March to November). Also try an unusual way to discover the town and surrounding countryside by rail-bike (vélo-rail)- a bike machine using the old railway tracks. Bungalow rentals, drains hookup for camper vans (entrance free of charge). Nearby: St Savin Abbey, listed UNESCO World Heritage site for its 12th C frescoes; Touffou Castle in Bonnes and the Village of the Written Word and Book Crafts (Cité de l'Ecrit et des Métiers du Livre) in Montmorillon. |
