Le Charlemagne - Charroux

Situated in a old and attractive building in the centre of Charroux, right next to the abbey, is Pierre Martel's restaurant ,serving traditional dishes.

At the bottom of a small valley not far from the Charente, the octagonal tower at Charroux is all that remains of one of the most powerful Benedictine abbeys in medieval France. The Charroux region extends along the Charente river.  Numerous hiking, riding and biking circuits lead you to valleys, forests, romanesque churches and manors, rivers and ponds.
