The Jacques Batard Oil Factory is the last of the thirteen oil factories found in Neuville de Poitou at the turn of the last century. Founded in 1850, the factories are powered both by electricity and hydraulics. The stone grinding wheel (which crushes the nuts to perfection) and the hydraulic presses (approximately 200 tons /sq.cm.) date from 1920, yet the storage tanks are the most modern on the market ensuring the best conditions possible for decanting and stocking the virgin hazel, almond, peanut, and sunflower oils.
