Lavausseau, a charming village nestled in the Boivre Valley, has conserved its century old passion for tanning. In 1811, there were eleven tanneries on the banks of the river, but today only one remains, and here you can visit the last tannery in the Vienne Region and learn all about this ancestral profession. In a picturesque atmosphere, you can see the tanners who still use the same techniques as their forefathers using century old tubs and barrels. The 'Tanners' Trail' will help you discover the town's charms (the old town and commandery). Nearby: Vouillé (famous for the battle that took place there), Saint Hilaire Forest and the Ayron Recreation Area.
