Many human traces have been found in the Poitou region, these testify a continuos occupation of the land since prehistoric times. On the right bank of the Charente River, the excavation of four caves (the largest being the Grotte du Puits ) has unearthed many human and animal bones, hewed flint stone and artefacts dating to the Magdalenian period. Unaccompanied or guided visits of the site. A discovery trail leads you to each of the caves along the Charente River.
